MARCH 2006. Well most of the houses on the first part of this site (0248) have now been completed with several of them already lived in. Let's see how the plans submitted by the Developer and accepted by the Planning Service match up with what has actually been built.
Sites 19, 20 amd 21

Above photo was taken from the Straid Road and shows (from left) Sites 21, 20 and 19

The original Cross Section plans submitted (and passed by Planning) showed the ground at this point was to be built up giving a first floor level for this terrace of about a metre. But note the steps and handrails on the left. .
Vertical gabions where it should be a slope

And the above photograph of the rears of sites (from left) 30, 29 28 and 26, was taken in February 2006 from the Straid Rd

The cross section plans submitted by the Developer and approved by the Planning Service shows the ground sloping from the rear of the right hand dwelling in the above photo followed by an approximately 12 metre gentle slope at 1:2 going to the left. There was no mention of gabions in the submitted, and approved, plans.
WHAT HAS ACTUALLY BEEN BUILT? - Two tiers of gabions including the vertical 2 metre high one in the foreground. Incidentally running in the soil behind the high foreground gabions are the main sewer and storm water pipes for the development. Planning says this
"...alleged non compliance re levels complies with the conditions of the planning permission granted by the Department."
"Complies with the conditions"? How can this possibly be?
