THE DEVELOPMENT OFF EAGRY now known as EAGRY GARDENS
STORM WATER i.e. water that runs into the drains from house gutters and the roads. Here is an earlier extract from a note written to the Planners by a member of the Infrastructure Management Water Service team On 26/9/02
26/9/02
" Storm water from the proposed development would discharge directly to St. Columb's Rill. Although this would not affect existing drains in Eagry Park, it may well have an adverse effect on the water quality of the stream. " (My emphasis)

A successful outcome
However, this arrangement for storm water has since been superseded. As far as I can make out from the detailed "Streets" plan submitted 30 May 2003, this water will now be piped to the Straid Road. The plans do not show what happens to it from there on, but it is kept well clear of St Columb's Rill within the Development site. We've been told it will discharge into the Rill after the point where the distillery takes its supply. So a happy outcome to that concern.

Chemicals
But one wonders what happens to chemicals (building detritus, weed killer, etc) leaching directly into the soil on a site which slopes down to such an important stream.
Dumped builders material, paint pots etc.

Photo shows builders' material dumped prior to the start of building this development
