The Orphans' Window This is a very short cloth for a very short scene and depicts night time at the orphanage. 5ltr paint tin for scale. That's black PVC rolled up beneath the cloth ready for unrolling and for me to continue painting once the actors have finished rehearsing on the stage.

The window frame was marked out with masking tape which enabled me to paint the picture of the castle and moon etc right over the tape without having to worry about losing my construction lines. Once I was satisfied with my background, I peeled off the tape and painted in the window frame.
