SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME
WIZARD OF OZ - page four
Designed and Painted by Brian Willis. Sets constructed by Sean Magee
Performed by Coleraine Provincial Players (1999)
I have tried to keep all the pages on this web site at 600 pixels wide
which means you can easily print a page out.
However I have made an exception in this case.
So if you do want to print this photo then you will have to adjust your printer to landscape.
The Witches Wood (Steps for scale) Painted with a nod towards that wonderful evil wood in Disney's "Snow White".
Most of this cloth I painted on the floor. The background was painted very loosely first with the brightest light being in the bottom right corner. I then added the trees in, layer by layer, remembering to place the cast shadows upwards from that bottom light source.
This was an exercise in contrasting hues. Whenever I met a light coloured trunk, I would put a dark coloured branch in front of it and vice versa.
