Here you can see the permanent rostra which ran along the back of the stage. Also seen through the bars is the "London Skyline" backcloth. The trompe l'oeil pillars are all painted on the flat with the apparent thickness done using perspective knowing that the audience's eyeline is one foot above the stage floor. That's the sky I painted using a broken sponge, the stage lighting has brought out the cloud texture very effectively. | |
