SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF - page four
Designed by Donald O'Brien. Scenic Artist Brian Willis. Sets constructed by Leonard Quigg
Performed by Ballycastle Choral Society (2001)
A corner of the interior of the truck cottage. The piece on the left is a free standing "oven" The door is practical and the dresser about 1 foot deep. It had crockery on it for the show.

The windows were painted on the flat hardboard, complete with shadows and sky. Here is a detail of one. The red plant outside was deliberate to add a spot of colour to a drab set.

The whole of this was dirtied down with a dry brush of dark blues and browns ladling it on in corners where walls met. See previous page (use back button) where I had also dirtied the area above the stool on the right where people would have leant back against the wall. I enjoy making up stories like this as I work.
