SCENERY PAINTING FOR THE AMATEUR MUSICAL THEATRE and PANTOMIME
TITLE - ALI BABA (BUSHMILLS)
Designed, constructed and painted by Brian Willis
Performed by Bushmills Primary Players at the School in February 2005
THE MARKET PLACE Young member of cast for scale. And here is the Marke Place complete with dome. This photo also shows a "drinking fountain" on the right which the boy is leaning against. In one scene the script called for a section which the dame can hide behind. So this "fountain" was set in. Detritus on the floor is harboard and black plastic covering the stage whilst I built and painted. The backcloth is painted on the back wall of the stage. The dome is on a separate piece of hardboard which is hung from a hook on the blue wall . The two towers are permanent wings. These are working florescent lights which are switched out during the performance - good thing too, for under these lights, even in this poor photo, you can see the fishing lines glinting at the top right of the picture. These are the lines which pull the "ghost" across the stage. (see two pages on)
